Steering Committee | SIGCID

A CID's establishment process is run by the Steering Committee who are property owners within the proposed boundary and motivated to ensure the rendering of supplementary services to the benefit of all property owners within the boundary.

The Steering Committee follow the prescribed process to establish a CID, being overseen at every step of the way by the dedicated CID department at the City of Cape Town.

Now that the CID has been successfully established, it has been incorporated as a non-profit company (NPC) whose first Members Meeting (or AGM) will be held on 1 December 2026. The below Steering Committee members serve as founding directors until that meeting at which the new Board is elected; nominees must be members of the NPC. The Board will then go on to elect a Chair and allocate portfolios.

Bevis Hoets - SIGCID interim board Chair

Bevis is a Chartered Accountant who has served on numerous boards in the FMCG, Property and Media related industries. He is currently director on two private companies where he oversees finance and operations.

Trip Allport - SIGCID interim board member

Trip is a strategy and management consultant in the global health industry, working to improve access to health and medicines across Africa. He is the owner of 3 Degrees Ventures. Before building his business, Trip was at Accenture in the Strategy group for 10 years.

Murray von Hirschberg - SIGCID interim board member

Murray von Hirschberg, with his wife Jeanne, owns The Blue Cafe, Tamboerskloof's 122 year old neighbourhood institution. He has a background in finance and owns a variety of businesses based in Cape Town.

Peter de Jong - SIGCID interim board member

Peter de Jong is a practicing gynecologist, and urogynaecologist at the Chris Barnard Hospital. He is also a honorary urogynaecologist at the Groote Schuur Hospital and UCT Dept of Gynaecology.
